The Dubai Mall was originally scheduled to open November 2006, then August 2008, then 30 October 2008, then finally Tuesday 04 November 2008 at 2pm (with official opening ceremony on 08 May 2009 along with the opening of the Dubai Fountain). Normal opening hours 10am to midnight every day. The largest shopping mall in the world with 1200+ shops in a total area of 12 million sq feet (1.2 million sq m). Actual retail space about 3.8m sq ft, and internal area about 5.9m sq ft including posh restaurants, an Olympic ice-skating rink, and the largest goldfish bowl you've ever seen. New to the UAE shops include Waitrose (a UK supermarket, open Nov 2008), Galeries Lafayette (a French department store, open Feb 2009), Bloomingdales (a US department store, open Feb 2010), and Hamleys (a UK toy shop, open Nov 2008). The Dubai Mall is an Emaar Malls development.
